Morgan Lyons is CEO of Compuscript Publishing. He has over 20 years’ experience leading Compuscript in the delivery of services to major Science, Technology and Medical (STM) publishers. In this role Morgan has worked with major publishers such as Elsevier Science, Springer, Wiley, Lippincott Williams and Wilkins, Bloomsbury among others. Morgan has particular experience bringing the quality and efficiencies associated with large publishers to smaller publishers who want to remain independent. He has worked with a wide range of learned associations such as Igitur, the Open Access publishing arm of the University of Utrecht in The Netherlands, the American Association for Public Opinion Research, The Royal Irish Academy and the Chinese General Practice Press among many others. Morgan is a graduate of the National University of Ireland, Galway and holds postgraduate qualifications in both business and technology management.

Paula Gantz provides business analysis, strategic planning and product development for Compuscript’s journals. Paula has worked for nearly 20 years in STM publishing. Prior to this she had more than 15 years’ experience in consumer and newspaper publishing in financial and marketing roles. She has an MBA in marketing from The Wharton School and a BS from Cornell University.

More recently, Paula has held key positions such as Vice President of Surgery Journals with Elsevier (1991–2003) and Director, Business Development at Springer Science and Business Media (SBM) (2005–2010), managing and developing medical and scientific content for some of the most prestigious societies and publishers in the US, Europe and Asia.

She has also been directly involved in business development and acquisitions, both in co-publishing arrangements and purchase arrangements. Her special interests are in content innovation and management, including large scale repositories and the challenge of integrating content in a user-friendly interface.

Wendy Bibby previously worked in journal production at Elsevier for more than 20 years. Elsevier is the world’s leading publisher of scientific, technical and medical information. Wendy was General Manager of Elsevier’s largest journal production office from 2009, managing 450 journals from submission through to publication, online and in print.

The journals covered a wide range of subjects including medicine, science, economics and social sciences, ranging from prestigious society-owned titles such as the Journal of Hepatology [impact factor (IF 9.3)] and Pain (IF 5.7) to long-established titles such as Analytica Chimica Acta (IF 4.5). The journals included fields such as economics, the Journal of Financial Economics (IF 3.7), engineering, Cement and Concrete Research (IF 2.8), through to numerous mid-range, niche and start-up titles.

Wendy’s current role in Compuscript involves working with key stakeholders in all aspects of academic journal publishing, from managing the review process through to publication online and in print, to meet the required standards for publishing ethics and scientific quality.

Michele has previously worked for over 22 years in STM and educational publishing, holding various positions with Elsevier, Harcourt Education, Wiley-Blackwell, and more recently, with several Irish educational publishers.

Working with both books and journals, Michele has been responsible for the identification of new business development opportunities and development of existing products for the Irish education market; management and marketing of various journal portfolios across global earth sciences, environmental sciences and health professions markets; project management of the development of print and digital resources for the global medical education market and management of  project teams developing content for engineering, chemical, biomedical and environmental journals.

Michele’s current role in Compuscript involves managing, marketing and developing the open access medical journal list. Michele provides creative support to editors and society partners to engage with the target audience and develop industry, market and product knowledge to strategically develop successful publications.

Conor is responsible for managing the quality of the print and online content, which includes copyediting and page layout. He is the main point of contact for authors and editors and manages the publishing schedule from article submission and review to print and online delivery.

From 2004 to 2012, Conor was a Journal Manager at Elsevier Ireland. Conor managed numerous journals including the European Journal of Cardio-thoracic SurgeryDiabetes Research and Clinical Practice, the Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport and the International Journal of Drug Policy.  Conor holds an MA from the University of Westminster, London.
