Kudos provides a web-based platform for you to maximise the visibility of your publications.
How does it work?
Step 1: Claim your publications – The KUDOS team suggests that you only promote one publication at a time.
Step 2: Explain your work – Add a short title, a non-technical summary and an impact statement for the published work.
Step 3: Enrich your work – Add useful links to the publications; for example, videos, data sets, images, media coverage etc.
Step 4: Share your work – Use the KUDOS platform to share your work via social media networks (e.g. Facebook and Twitter) and e-mail. Guidance and templates are provided for this step.
Step 5: Measure the impact of your work – Usage statistics and article level metrics are available, showing you the number of times your publication was viewed and downloaded, and the number of blog posts, tweets, and comments that mention your article.
KUDOS is relatively new – is it effective?
Researchers found an average increase of 19% in publication downloads. However, you are in control of your KUDOS output. In other words, the more effort you put into explaining, enriching and sharing your work, the greater your changes of maximising the visibility of your publications.
